Annie Mac lands daily Radio 1 show

Big up to the industry’s leading DJs, Annie Mac, who has just been announced as the new host of Radio 1’s weekday evening new music show (Monday-Thursday, 7-9pm).

Taking over from the show’s long time host Zane Lowe, it was actually on Zane Lowe’s show that Annie first started out – landing a Broadcast Assistant job in 2003. What a way to go, taking over from your previous boss!

Starting on Monday 9th March, Annie will continue to host her Friday evening electronic music show but from Monday to Thursday every week, explore all types of new music and will no doubt be responsible for breaking some of the most hotly-tipped new names into the industry.

Annie Mac says: “I am so excited and humbled to be asked to do this show. The thing I love about music radio is those private epiphanies it provides. Having 11 hours of airtime a week to share those moments with music that has no boundaries, is beyond a job, it’s a privilege. And to be following in the footsteps of Zane Lowe, a broadcaster that I respect and admire enormously, is a huge honour. I can’t wait to get started.”

And we’re just as excited to have a daily dose of the Maccers!!
