Founding member of the legendary Detroit collective Underground Resistance, alongside Jeff Mills and Mad Mike Banks, ROBERT HOOD is one of the most important artists in the history of electronic music and more precisely the world of techno.
Often regarded as one of the pioneers/founders of minimal techno, his seminal work on Jeff Mill’s Axis and his very own M-Plant imprint paved the way for a wave of stripped-down dancefloor minimalism that directed much of techno’s path throughout the late Nineties.
Robert Hood makes Detroit Techno with an emphasis on soul and experimentation over flash and popularity, back in 1994 was when he decided it was time for him to start his own label to focus on what was in his soul musically. M-Plant records was launched which 22 years on is now stronger and more important than ever.
In more recent years, his desire to remain underground has been interweaved with his urge to reach a wider audience, hence his alter ego FLOORPLAN was born. Focusing on techno with a more housier, disco, gospel moniker, his 2 albums and performances alongside his daughter Lyric Hood has made his music wider spread and heard than ever before. It’s a true honour to have ROBERT HOOD come play the Nightvision series.
Joining Robert Hood, we have another artist of pure pedigree, Parisian DJ DEEP, renowned for his legendary label DEEPLY ROOTED. A consistently pure and quality label over the years, acting as an outlet for music from heavy weight artists including orginal and remix work from the the likes of Ben Klock, Kerri Chandler, Marcel Dettmann, Terence Fixmer, etc. Deep’s ability to weave through the genres of house and Techno, be it Detroit, Chicago, Berlin or NY is second to none.
We also welcome Edinburgh’s very own legend, STEPHEN BROWN and local party starters Main Ingredient.
